Occupy Wall Street Archival Project

From Amy Roberts:

I am a GSLIS student enrolled in the Archives Certificate program at Queens College and a participant in Occupy Wall Street. I and another participant are currently working in collaboration with the Tamiment Library at NYU to develop an archival collection of the material that has been generated during the Occupy Wall Street movement. Some of these materials include ephemera, handmade cardboard signs, photos, videos, websites, and more. We are also attempting to develop an oral history project.

We will be meeting at 6:00 pm at Sunday at Zuccotti Park which is located in between Broadway, Trinity Place, Liberty street, and Cedar Place in lower Manhattan.

If anyone  would be interested in committing to any aspect of this project you can contact  me at aaroberts76@yahoo.com or contact Jeremy Bold at  jtb321@nyu.edu.

I’m a grad student here in NYC and also shooting video at OWS, especially student organizing efforts, and I’d be happy to share video with this archive if you are interested.

[...] October is beautiful in New York.  I hope the Commons has been able to make some time to get outside and enjoy it.  My hunch is the bloggers are because we were a little light on the blogs this week.  You know…enjoy the outdoors…but don’t forget to come back under the fluorescent lighting of the office from time to time and blog.  Once again Tony Picciano has been our ears on the Occupy Wall Street beat.  There was the New York Magazine protesters survey, the Millionaire’s March, and a showdown between Mayor Mike and Liberty Plaza over a scrub-down.  It was definitely smart of the mayor to skip trying to evict the protesters.  I was down there last weekend and everyone was armed with a good camera or an iPhone.  The folks grew up with the internet, they’re media savvy as all get out.  That poor girl who was hosed down with mace a few weeks back made the front page around the world.  Anyone get some good shots of Times Square yesterday?  If you’re spending any time in the Occupy protests the Queens College library folks are looking to archive materials.
